Hemogen

Hemogen is an injectable uterotonic solution with the active ingredient ergometrine maleate.

Cattle
(breeding cows)

hemogen

Treatment of metritis, cervicitis, placenta accreta, pyometra and other uterine infections.

After parenteral administration, Hemogen is absorbed quickly and its effects last over 4 hours. It acts directly on the muscles of the uterus, producing rhythmic contractions of the myometrium.

It is always pharmacologically active, regardless of how postpartum the animal is and its stress levels. Plus, it is an ergot alkaloid and contains no antibiotics.

What is Hemogen for?

  1. It prevents placenta accreta and uterine prolapse.
  2. It reduces the risk of and controls postpartum uterine bleeding.
  3. In puerperal metritis and placenta accreta, it helps empty the uterus.
  4. For prolapsed uterus, it reduces swelling and helps it return to place.

Benefits of ergometrine maleate

After administration, ergometrine maleate is absorbed quickly and reaches its peak of action within 2-5 minutes, with effects lasting over 4 hours. It is a semi-synthetic derivative of the natural alkaloid ergometrine and is a powerful, specific uterotonic agent.

It acts directly on the muscles of the uterus, increasing the basal tone, frequency and amplitude of the rhythmic contractions. Its action on the uterine blood vessels causes them to constrict, reducing blood flow.

How to use Hemogen?

To prevent placenta accreta and uterine prolapse: 10 ml in the first 6 hours postpartum.

For postpartum intrauterine bleeding or risk of hemorrhage: 10 ml after parturition.

For metritis or placenta accreta: 5-10 ml every 12 hours until pathological content or placenta is expelled.

For uterine prolapse: 10 ml before starting efforts to reintroduce the uterus.

Proven effective

Placenta accreta increases the frequency of metritis, as well as other reproductive diseases like endometritis, ketosis, mastitis and displaced abomasum.

Hemogen decreases the incidence of placenta accreta and boosts fertility.

 Advantages of Hemogen

Only ergometrine on the market

There are other active ingredients with similar characteristics but none with the same indications.

Good return on investment

Placenta accreta has a negative impact on production and fertility, which leads to huge financial losses (€325 per case).
