Utersol

Utersol is a broad spectrum intrauterine antibiotic solution with the active ingredient gentamicin sulfate in a saline solution.

Cattle

utersol

Effective against

+90%

of germs frequently involved.

Utersol maintains effective antibiotic concentrations in the uterine lumen for

+6 hours

and is especially effective against E. coli, A. pyogenes and Streptococcus spp.

Utersol eliminates clinical signs in

+88%

of animals treated with just one dose.

Effective treatment of uterine infections

Intrauterine transfusion of Utersol maintains effective antibiotic concentrations in the uterine lumen for over six hours without plasma absorption.

Utersol can be used to treat metritis, cervicitis, placenta accreta, pyometra and, in general, any type of uterine infection.

Plus, it helps resolve infertility issues caused by infection, improving reproduction rates.

Low dose of antibiotics

It is important to promote sustainable use of antibiotics in livestock to prevent antibiotic resistance and residue.

Utersol only has 200 mg of antibiotics per treatment, while common parenteral options have between 16.000 and 41.000 mg per treatment.

Benefits of gentamicin sulfate

Gentamicin has the broadest spectrum of inhibitory activity in uterine infections and is effective against 90% of germs frequently involved in metritis.

It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and changing the permeability of the bacterial membrane, which leads to cell death.

How to use Utersol

For uterine infections: Intrauterine, cervical or vaginal infusion with single dose vial. A second dose can be given 24-48 hours later.

For infectious infertility: Intrauterine with single dose vial 24 hours after artificial insemination.

Advantages of Utersol

01

No withdrawal period

Zeros days in meat and milk.

02

No plasma absorption

It only acts locally and is not absorbed into the system.

03

Broad spectrum

Gentamicin has the broadest spectrum of inhibitory activity against bacteria involved in intrauterine infections.

04

Optimal intrauterine distribution

Maintains effective concentrations for over six hours.

05

Effective

Eliminates clinical signs in 88% of animals treated with just one dose.

06

Single dose

The 25 ml single dose vial is a practical packaging that ensures compliance with treatment.

07

Easy to administer

Fast and easy, simple as pressing a button.

08

Administered via catheter

Allows it to be administered to animals even if the cervical opening is reduced.

09

Liquid solution

Ensuring the product doesn’t stick to the sides of the catheter and all reaches the uterus.

Responsible use of antibiotics

Veterinary medications, including antibiotics, play a key role in managing animal health. Farmers, veterinarians and anyone involved in animal care have the responsibility to look out for their health and wellbeing, which requires access to the right tools to do so. We must promote responsible use of antibiotics to treat bacterial infections in livestock and pets. Responsible use means administering precise doses for the period indicated, only when necessary and always with a prescription from a veterinarian.

Proper management of veterinary drugs is part of a comprehensive approach geared towards minimizing diseases, which includes measures like: farm biosecurity, proper facilities, optimal hygiene, balanced nutrition, regular monitoring of animal health and wellbeing, including vaccination when necessary, and a comprehensive healthcare plan.

HEMOGEN + UTERSOL

The combination of a uterotonic agent and an intrauterine lavage has a synergistic effect for treating metritis.

The uterotonic agent helps empty the pathological content of the uterus, reducing bacterial load and toxicity, improving the animal’s general wellbeing. Plus, it makes it easier for the intrauterine antibiotic to act directly on the myometrium and foci of infection, making it more effective.

Therefore, combined treatment with Hemogen to expel the pathological uterine content and Utersol to resolve intrauterine infection is the perfect treatment, synergistic and highly effective. Plus, it is affordable, easy to use and doesn’t come with any withdraw period for milk or meat, only bringing a few milligrams of antibiotics to the farm.
